Recently and beautifully restored, this romantic cabin sits on unique land at the confluence of Dowling Creek and the Bitterroot River’s East Fork. Its lovely 2.8 acres fronts the river for more than 1,000 feet and also borders National Forest land on two sides. You can explore on up the river or back into Dowling Gulch.
Built circa 1920 by a local Bitterroot family, this log cabin has seen many generations of fun gatherings. Much remains the same, except now you’ll be enjoying running water and indoor plumbing with a tiled shower, plus the convenience of a washer and dryer. The bedroom has a queen log bed and a gas fireplace. The front sunporch or sleeping porch has another queen log bed and lots of windows. A comfortable futon also sleeps two. The kitchen is fully equipped and the lovely stone fireplace in the living room draws everyone in.
You’ll want to visit the huge bells located on a knoll just over the creek. And then see if you can find the other big bell atop another hill. Three Bells Cabin is a great, mountain, fishing-and-hiking retreat in the heart of land you already own, your National Forest. Come and enjoy it!
